Marketing Operations Specialist

About The Position

Marketing Operations Specialist

Department: Marketing Operations  |  Reports to: Director, Marketing Operations & Analytics  |  Location: Remote (United States)  |  Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for a Marketing Operations Specialist to join our small, high-impact Marketing Operations & Analytics team. You will be a supporting owner of our marketing tech stack (Marketo, Salesforce, RingLead, Demandbase, and Clay), sharing responsibility with the Director and the Marketing Operations Manager for keeping these systems healthy, well-documented, and delivering value. Day to day, you will own campaign execution and data quality, and serve as a backup administrator for each tool.

This is a great role for someone early in their marketing operations career who wants to go deep on enterprise-grade systems, learn how marketing drives pipeline in a B2B technology company, and grow quickly alongside a team that will invest in their development.

What You Will Do

Marketing Tech Stack Ownership with the MarOps Team

  • Act as a supporting owner and backup administrator for Marketo, Salesforce (marketing objects and campaigns), RingLead, Demandbase, and Clay
  • Keep system documentation current, including field definitions, data flows, naming conventions, and other Marketing processes
  • Serve as a supporting point of contact with vendors and help with tool onboarding and training for marketers
  • Contribute to the Marketing Ops charter and a decision framework that defines what each tool is responsible for, where capabilities overlap, and how future tool decisions are made

Marketo Campaign Operations

  • Help service list uploads from events, webinars, and third-party sources: cleanse, normalize, dedupe, and import with correct attribution
  • Build, test, and launch Marketo programs for emails, webinars, events, nurtures, and other Marketing channels
  • Assist with QA of all campaign assets (emails, landing pages, forms, links, and flow steps) before launch
  • Manage program statuses, channels, and period costs so campaign data is accurate for reporting

Salesforce Marketing Funnel Management

  • Troubleshoot lead and contact sync issues between Marketo and Salesforce
  • Support the lead lifecycle by monitoring lead flow, lead status, and handoffs to the SDR team

Lead Scoring & Lifecycle

  • Confirm that existing scoring and lifecycle logic is live and working as designed before new changes are built
  • Implement demographic scoring updates, including fit-based adjustments for ICP, customer tier, and target account weighting
  • Test scoring, matching, and lifecycle changes in shadow mode before they go into production, then roll them out to new leads first
  • Lead the lead lifecycle data cleanup: fix stalled and miscategorized records, apply aged-lead cutoffs, and work down the backlog in batches sized to SDR capacity
  • Monitor lead flow, lead status, and handoffs to Sales Development, and help define and enforce lifecycle SLAs once the data supports them

Persona Segmentation & Data Quality

  • Build and maintain automated persona segmentation in Salesforce that turns raw job titles into standard Job Level, Job Function, and Job Role values
  • Set up and tune title-mapping logic using RingLead, Clay, and AI-native automations to classify new and existing records at scale
  • Regularly review classification accuracy, fix mismatches, and refine mapping rules as new titles appear
  • Run and maintain RingLead deduplication, normalization, and enrichment processes for leads, contacts, and accounts
  • Monitor data quality metrics and proactively fix incomplete, duplicate, or incorrect records

Cross-Functional Partnership: SDR, Sales & RevOps

Work closely with the SDR team, Sales, and RevOps to make sure every lead is matched to the right account and every MQL reaches the right rep quickly.

  • Lead-to-account matching: Maintain and tune RingLead matching rules (e.g., domain, company name, account hierarchy) so leads attach to the correct Salesforce account
  • Match quality: Monitor unmatched and mismatched leads, fix errors, and address root causes
  • Owner assignment: Make sure matched leads inherit the correct account owner and assigned SDR
  • MQL routing: Configure and maintain MQL routing rules in RingLead and Salesforce by territory, segment, and round-robin logic
  • SLA monitoring: Track MQL follow-up speed, and flag stalled or unassigned MQLs to SDR and Sales leadership
  • Territory changes: Partner with RevOps to align on Sales territory change logic, and update matching and routing rules as territories and assignments change
  • Regular syncs: Hold recurring reviews with SDR leadership, Sales, and RevOps on routing accuracy, lead quality, and handoff issues
  • Enablement: Train SDRs and AEs on lead status definitions, the MQL handoff process, and how routing works

Account Intelligence & Enrichment (Demandbase & Clay)

  • Co-own the design and maintenance of Demandbase intent and signal monitoring so Sales and Marketing can see which target accounts are in-market
  • Create Clay workflows that fill data gaps and fix records, complementing RingLead deduplication and normalization

Reporting

  • Build and maintain Salesforce, Marketo, and Demandbase reports and dashboards for campaign performance, list results, and funnel metrics
  • Pull ad hoc campaign results for Field, Demand Gen, and Events marketers
  • Partner with the Director on data accuracy so analytics and attribution reporting can be trusted
  • Follow reporting governance for AI-generated queries and reports, validating results before they are shared broadly

Team Support & Enablement

  • Serve as a supporting point of contact for campaign requests and Marketo/Salesforce questions from the marketing team
  • Document processes, templates, and best practices in team playbooks
  • Contribute to system projects, tool evaluations, and process improvements across the martech stack alongside the Director and Marketing Operations Manager

What You Bring

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in marketing operations, marketing automation, or CRM administration, ideally in B2B technology or SaaS
  • Hands-on experience building campaigns in Marketo (or a similar platform such as HubSpot, Eloqua, or Pardot, with a strong interest in Marketo)
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce objects, including leads, contacts, accounts, campaigns, and reports
  • Comfort working with data in Excel or Google Sheets (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, cleansing large lists)
  • Strong attention to detail and a QA-first mindset
  • Clear communicator who can manage multiple requests and deadlines with marketers, SDRs, Sales, and RevOps across regions
  • Entry-level proficiency with AI assistants such as Claude and Gemini, and interest in using AI to automate marketing operations work (e.g., data classification, list cleansing, documentation)
  • Curious, process-oriented, and eager to learn
  • A sense of ownership: you take responsibility for the health of the systems you support, not just the tasks assigned to you

Nice to Have

  • Experience with RingLead or other data orchestration tools (e.g., Clay, Zoom)
  • Experience with Demandbase or another ABM and intent platform (e.g., 6sense, Bombora), including concepts aligning to engagement scoring or predictive account models
  • Experience with Clay or similar enrichment and workflow tools; we will train the right candidate on both Demandbase and Clay and all other Marketing technology
  • Exposure to lead scoring, lead-to-account matching, lead routing, or campaign attribution
  • Marketo Certified Associate or Certified Expert
  • Basic HTML/CSS for email and landing page edits
  • Familiarity with SQL, Snowflake, or a BI tool

What Success Looks Like

  • First 30 days: Learn our Marketo instance, Salesforce campaign structure, RingLead processes, and the basics of Demandbase; launch your first programs with support; get admin access and shadow the Manager on each tool
  • First 90 days: Independently own campaign builds and list uploads end to end with consistent, on-time, error-free launches; cover admin requests independently as backup owner
  • First 6 months: Act as a trusted supporting owner of the full martech stack, own data quality processes in RingLead, maintain core campaign reporting, maintain automated persona segmentation in Salesforce, own RingLead lead-to-account matching and MQL routing with SDR, Sales, and RevOps, run Clay enrichment and signal workflows, support Demandbase intent and engagement scoring, and contribute to at least one system or process improvement
