The Mission
At WEKA, we are building one of the most advanced distributed storage systems in the world.
To support that, we are creating a new kind of engineering platform - one that behaves like our customers’ environments, stresses the system in real-world conditions, and exposes edge cases before they happen in production.
This role is all about engineering systems that challenge systems.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Tech Lead with a strong background in distributed systems to build and lead a next-generation verification platform.
This role is ideal for someone who grew up as a backend or infrastructure engineer, understands complex system behavior (concurrency, scale, failure modes), and wants to apply that expertise to build a system that simulates, stresses, and breaks other systems intelligently.
You will design and build a platform that behaves like real customers:
generating workloads, simulating failures, and pushing the system to its limits - early and continuously.
You will lead a small, strong team, but first and foremost, you are a builder.
What You'll Do
- Design and build a distributed validation platform that simulates real-world workloads and system behavior at scale
- Develop infrastructure that pushes system limits - concurrency, failure injection, performance stress
- Architect frameworks that enable engineers to understand, reproduce, and debug complex system behavior
- Build intelligent systems that evolve with the product - not static test suites
- Work closely with core engineering teams to deeply understand system architecture and weak points
- Stay hands-on: design, code, and drive critical parts of the system
- Be at the forefront of AI-assisted development, and build a system that leverages AI in production to bring the best results.
What You Bring
- Strong background as a backend / distributed systems engineer (not purely QA/Automation)
- Experience building complex, large-scale systems (storage / networking / cloud - big advantage)
- Deep understanding of concurrency, distributed architectures, and system behavior under load
- Proven experience designing internal platforms / frameworks
- Strong coding skills (Python, Go, C++, or Rust)
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers - with a hands-on approach
- Curiosity and desire to fully embrace the AI revolution
Nice to Have
- Experience with simulation systems, load generation, or fault injection
- Background in performance engineering or reliability engineering
- Familiarity with AI/ML-driven approaches to system validation
