WekaIO Recognized as a Visionary in Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage
Evaluation based on completeness of vision and ability to execute
CAMPBELL, Calif., October 06, 2021 – WekaIO™ (Weka) the leading data platform for modern applications, today announced that Weka has been recognized by Gartner as a Visionary with its placement in the Visionaries quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage.1
Earning this first-time place in a Gartner Magic Quadrant is a landmark accomplishment for Weka, as this recognition represents a culmination of extensive research by Gartner and provides a graphical view of Weka’s relative position within the market. This Magic Quadrant assessed vendors that provide products for unstructured data growth for enterprise data centers, including distributed files systems vendors and object storage providers.
According to Gartner, Visionaries are typically vendors that are focusing on strong innovation and product differentiation but are smaller vendors with limited reach or achievement to date, or larger vendors with innovative programs that are still unproven. A vendor in the Visionaries quadrant delivers innovative products that address operationally or financially important end-user problems on a broad scale and has yet to capture market share or sustainable profitability.
“We are extremely pleased that Gartner has placed Weka in the Visionaries quadrant, which definitely is fitting for us at this stage of growth,” said Liran Zvibel, Co-founder and CEO at WekaIO. “Weka has taken a radical departure from the approach taken by vendors over the last 20 years, with dramatic innovation in both our technology and our business model. Our highly experienced founding team started with a blank sheet and engineered the product from the ground up to meet the demands of next-gen peta- and exa-scale workloads with new algorithms and data structures. This is the vision of where storage will go over the next 20 years as next-gen workloads rapidly demand exponential growth in performance and scale.”
Weka offers WekaFS, a cloud-native, data-center ready platform that was built in the cloud and for the cloud. WekaFS addresses the storage challenges posed by mixed modern workloads and applications that leverage Cloud and GPU compute through innovations in flash utilization. Organizations no longer have to make compromises between simplicity, speed, or scale. With its unique software-defined architecture, customers can run on-premises, natively in the cloud, or orchestrate their data effortlessly between the two.
Weka customers, which include 8 of the Fortune 50 companies, have seen 40x and more improvement in application performance with huge cost savings. In the Gartner Peer Insights reviews, where Weka has an overall rating of 5 out of 5 stars based on 3 reviews as of Oct. 6, 2021 in the Distributed File Systems and Object Storage Market, customers have endorsed Weka for its simplicity, speed, and scale:
- “A modern, fast, distributed file system which doesn’t require a team of experts to set up”
- “WekaIO provides the fastest and most reliable distributed file system I have evaluated in my career”
- “Great performance in an easy package”
According to Gartner, “Visionaries understand where the market is going or have a vision for changing market rules” and still have room for improvement on execution. “We fully agree,” added Zvibel, “which is why Weka is investing so heavily now to double-down on our Go-to-Market strategy. Weka continues to achieve internal goals with ease and is setting the bar in the industry. While rightfully famous for our success with high-performance, next-generation workloads, we are also increasingly winning large-scale general-purpose file system workloads with high-profile customers who appreciate our unique and simple scalability, our ease of management, and our great support. Weka will continue to impress.”
