Data Center Administrator

About The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Center Administrator to join our infrastructure team at QTS in Santa Clara, CA. This role is responsible for managing and supporting a large-scale, high-performance compute and storage environment consisting of 500+ Dell, Supermicro, and Lenovo Linux servers. The administrator will oversee containerized environments, storage and networking infrastructure, and hybrid cloud clusters, while ensuring security, availability, and operational efficiency. This role combines hands-on data center operations with advanced automation and cloud expertise.  

Who We’re Looking For:

In this role, you’ll work directly with our product team, customer success, presales, and post-sales engineers, helping them to create and automate test, demo, and POC environments that replicate those of our customers. You’ll be challenged to learn new technologies, including Cloud environments across all of the major cloud vendors, and be a part of working with some of the world's most well-known companies that are pushing the boundaries within their industries using WEKA.

This is a very dynamic role in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. A willingness to research and explore new technologies, learn them on the fly, and be creative in solving challenges is a must!

Responsibilities:

Data Center Operations

  • Rack, cable, and physically maintain servers, storage, and networking hardware.
  • Install, upgrade, and replace NIC cards, memory, and other hardware components.
  • Build and scale compute and storage clusters to support high-performance workloads.
  • Maintain detailed physical inventory and ensure adherence to cabling and racking standards.

Server & Systems Administration

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain 500+ Linux servers across Dell, Supermicro, and Lenovo hardware.
  • Administer and support container environments with Docker.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain NetBox (asset inventory) and LibreNMS (network monitoring).
  • Automate server provisioning, patching, and maintenance tasks using Ansible, Bash, and Python.

Networking & Security

  • Operate and troubleshoot Cato VPN infrastructure for secure remote access.
  • Manage Cisco Meraki and NVIDIA Cumulus SN2700 Ethernet switches.
  •  Maintain and optimize Quantum InfiniBand fabrics for high-performance computing (HPC) workloads.
  •  Design, configure, and troubleshoot VLANs, Ethernet, and InfiniBand networks.

Cloud & Cluster Management

  • Deploy and manage Weka clusters across multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, OCI).
  • Perform cloud cost analysis and implement infrastructure monitoring to optimize spend and performance.
  • Ensure uptime, scalability, and reliability of HPC and hybrid cloud workloads.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations, Linux systems, and network infrastructure.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale server environments and high-performance compute (HPC) clusters.
  • Strong background in network monitoring, automation, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience with physical data center operations (rack/stack, cabling, hardware upgrades) preferred.

USA Residents Only: The OTE hiring wage range for this position which the Company reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position in the specified geographic areas or locations, is $130k-$150k.  Final compensation will be dependent on various factors relevant to the position and candidate such as geographical location, candidate qualifications, certifications, relevant job-related work experience, education, skillset and other relevant business and organizational factors, consistent with applicable law. In addition, the position may include some of the following comprehensive benefits such Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401(K), Flexible Time off (FTO), sick time, leave of absence as per the FMLA and other relevant leave laws.
